Okay - what can be better than fishing in Feburary? Well, let me count the things...I made the trek with the boys for the opening of Winter Blackmouth fishing in Area 7 (San Juan Islands). It was damn cold (like 39 degrees on the water!) and it was a little windy and the rain did spit a little. Not really my idea of ideal but it was not Ukie rough so I have a new point of comparison now.
We had to wait in line to launch the boat and it was not EVEN dark out! What is up with that? Seriously! Hayden was awake and waiting for his Dad to come and get him, seriously! What is up with that as well? Fischer, he's my child and it took a little coaxing to wake him up but he leaped out of bed as soon as he figured out it was FISHIN' TIME! Seriously, what is up with that too? I drug my lazy ass out of bed and put on several layers and got in the car to go to Starbucks. The boys ordered doughnuts for
breakfast and we were off....It was a little bouncy in Bellingham Bay but as soon as we rounded Pt. Francis it was smooth and we drove by the beach house and around Pt. Migley to Pt. Thompson. There were a lot of boats and we stayed outside and ended up getting some strikes and finaly got a fish. We had enough action to keep us busy and my only complaint was that I got cold at the end of the day. We were home in time to see most of the Super Bowl too!
